* air that is exhaled from the lungs
contains about 16% O2 and 4% CO2

Clinical Death
* within 1 minute – cardiac irritability
* 1-4 minute – brain damaged
* 4-6 minute – brain damage possible

Biological Death
* 6-10 minute – brain damaged very
unlikely
* more than 10 minutes – irreversible
brain damaged
