GOOD AFTERNOON!

ANALYZING SIGNS,
SYMBOLS, AND DATA

TLE REPORT PERFORMANCE TASK QUARTER 2

GROUP 1
8 - LIGHTNESS
WE WILL DISCUSS 2 TOPICS.

|ALPHABET OF LINES|

|BASIC LINES OF SKETCHING|

WHAT ARE ART
AND DRAWINGS LINES!
MADE OUT OF?
Hmm…
What do you think about this statement?

A DRAWING IS MADE UP OF DIFFERENT LINES

WITH EACH LINE REPRESENTING SOMETHING.
ALPHABET OF
LINES

- are lines needed to cover the lines

with labeling symbols within the
diagram.
VISIBLE LINE

- A thick line that represents the

visible edges or outline of the
object; a.k.a “object line”.
HIDDEN LINE

- A medium thick line composed of

short dashes that are about 2-3 mm
long with spaces between about 1-2
mm wide; it represents the surface
or edges that cannot be seen.
SECTION LINE

- Thin lines that show the surface

has been cut; they are spaced evenly
at 45 degrees with the horizontal
angle to make the shaded effect.
DIMENSION LINE

- A thin line that extends from the

object in order to show dimension
limits. A.k.a. “extension line”.
LONG-BREAK LINE

- A medium thick line consisting of

broken and straight lines drawn
alternately; a.k.a. “limiting line”; it
limits the length of an elongated
object without changing the size of
its view.
SHORT-BREAK
LINE

- A thick line drawn in freehand to

show details that a part has been cut
off.
LEADER LINE

- A short inclined and thin line with

an arrowhead at the end and a short
horizontal line on the end; (can be
drawn in 2 ways). It’s used to point
out info about the figure.
PHANTOM LINE

- A thin line that shows position/s of

a part of an object that moves drawn
by 2 short dashes and one long dash.
CUTTING PLANE
LINE

- Thick lines to indicate an

imaginary cut through an object
along the line. It’s made up of 2
long dashes broken in one end with
an arrowhead and two short dashes
drawn in between the long dashes.

EXPERIENCES TO SHARE?
Artist’s drawing is generally called freehand
SOMETHING TO
drawing that is, drawings are made without the
KNOW..
use of drawing instruments or straightedges.
BASIC LINE
SKETCHING

- Something that is needed for

freehand drawing. A skill that that
only requires patience and
continuous, correct practice.
HORIZONTAL LINES

- Strokes that are drawn either from

right to left or left to right.
VERTICAL LINES

- Strokes that are drawn

downward or upward.
INCLINED LINES

- Inclined (diagonal) strokes that are

drawn downwards that can face
either left or right.
CURVED LINE

- Curved strokes are drawn

downward for both right-handed
and left-handed.
