INTRODUCTION
• Electric vehicle industry is certianly rife in the current era.
However despite alluring features and intricate details being
added everyday into electric vehicles, a fair amount of
population is still rather reluctant to make the switch towards
EV.

ON ROAD CHARGING
On road charging of Electric Vehicle is a new electricity powered transportation system to overcome
the limitation of the existing electric vehicle technology. An EV can charge its battery while stationary
or driving thus, eliminating the need of stopping at charging stations for hours at stretch to charge or
replace bulky battery. These systems operate with an electric motor and a battery installed in the
vehicle
• On road charging solves the problem of EVs having to stop and • Current research and innovation is spread across miltitudes of
charge for long stretches and even better entirely eliminates the need different charging infrastructure and battery architecture. among those
to stop mid-way altogether by essentially eliminating the need for any there are two systems primarily focused on “On Road Charging”
sort of fuel refill or battery change
ON ROAD CHARGING
The execution of this system is fairly simple and is merely an extension on the principle
of Electro Magnetic Induction. The challenge however lies in integrating the power
supply system into our regular roads.

RECTIFIER INVERTER PICK UP REGULATOR
RECTIFIER
These devices usually consist of a rectifier stage which is then inverted to produce ac of the
desired frequency. The first component of all frequency converters is a device known as a
rectifier or converter. A rectifier converts alternating current (ac) to direct current (dc).
DC LINK
Once the rectification is accomplished, the power is then routed to an inverter to obtain the
final output. The DC that is fed into the inverter is called the DC link. As the name implies, the
two sources are linked together with a filter capacitor.
INVERTER
Single-phase square wave type voltage source inverter is used here. 50Hz AC is stepped up to
10kHz through this.It produces square wave output voltage. The main advantage of these type
of inverter is its simple control logic and also the power switches will operate at a lower
frequencies when compared to other types of inverter.
PICKUP MODULE
The pick up module consists of a power line cables, ferrite core blocks and mechanical
components. The cables carry current and generate magnetic flux which links to pick up
modules. The pickup modules which are attached to the bottom face of the vehicles capture
the active magnetic flux from the power lines. Induced voltage and current generate AC
power in the pick up module. The power line module consists of a power line cables, ferrite
core blocks and mechanical components.
RECTIFIER/REGULATOR
The input is given to the rectifier. The rectification is the function of rectifier. Here square
wave is converted to dc supply. A voltage regulator is used to regulate voltage level. The
output of a voltage regulator will be fixed irrespective of any change in load conditions.
PIEZOELECTRIC
HARVESTING
• Piezoelectric referes to electricity derived from
pressure or mechanical stress. Mechanisms built to
harvest such electricity are Piezoelectric
harvesters.
• Piezoelectric energy harvesters have attracted
much attention recently because they can harvest
energy from the ubiquitous vibrations -- even
down to the nanometer range in the ambient
environment without being affected by the weather.
MECHANISM
The proprietary piezoelectric energy harvesters generate the
mechanical energy in the roadway due to the heavy passing
vehicles and convert the mechanical energy into electricity.
A power electronic circuit collects the electricity and
rectifies it to either charge batteries or electric cars near the
road, or to feed a power grid along the highway.
As long as there is traffic, the energy harvesting system generates electricity under all
weather conditions, which is a major advantage compared to solar panels that have
intermittent generation and are dependent on the sun. As a result, the piezoelectric
energy harvesting technology can provide an alternative, reliable source of electric
power.
METHODOLOGY
ENERGY TOWER
The PEH were integrated into a tower structure called the
piezoelectric energy harvesting tower (PEHT), which provided a
housing and waterproof environment. This vertical design improves
the energy density. The units were stacked in a cylinder and
behaved like multiple nonlinear springs mechanically connected in
series.
CIRCUIT DESIGN
Since many piezoelectric energy harvesting towers have to be
implemented on the road with a mix of series and parallel electric
connections, a full bridge rectifier can be used for each tower to avoid
electric interactions
CONCLUSION
On-Road Charging Electric Vehicle is a ground breaking technology that accelerates the development of purely
electric vehicles as a viable option for future transportation systems, be it personal vehicles or public transport.
The main issues of existing electric vehicles are its price, weight, volume, driving distance, and lack of
charging infrastructure. Through continuous research and innovation through technologies like contactless
power transfer or Piezo electric harvesting, the world is set sailed to streamline and eliminate any challenges in
the successful switch to green transportation system. These methods are not only the most promising
alternative of the gasoline vehicle but also the most practical approach to the Conventional electric vehicle. As
it charges while running it saves the time of charging which make On-Road Charging Electric Vehicle most
efficient
These systems of charging will be a solution to today’s world where inefficient transportation system is a
major problem and it will also help to develop an eco-friendly transportation system.
