The document discusses word scramble, an activity where students try to unscramble randomly selected letters to form words. The instructions specify that a teacher will use a name picker to select students, who will then have 15 seconds to solve the scramble before moving on to the next student. Correct answers earn rewards.

Processing Devices
and Storage Devices

She M. Pajares
A processing device is any device in
PROCESSING a computer that handles the
intermediate stage of processing the
DEVICE
incoming data.
A storage device referred to as digital storage,
STORAGE storage, storage media, or storage medium, a
storage device is any hardware capable of holding
DEVICE information either temporarily or permanently.
TYPES OF PROCESSING
DEVICES

CPU - handles all

instructions it
receives from
hardware and
software running on
the computer.
TYPES OF PROCESSING
DEVICES

GPU - ·short for graphics

processing unit. It is an
electronic circuit used to
speed up the creation of
both 2D and 3D images.
TYPES OF PROCESSING
DEVICES

Motherboard - a printed
circuit board and
foundation of a computer
that is the biggest board in
a computer chassis
TYPES OF PROCESSING
DEVICES

NIC - It is also referred to

as an Ethernet card and
network adapter. It is a
computer expansion card
for connecting to a
network.
TYPES OF STORAGE DEVICES

Magnetic Storage Device

- Any storage medium that
utilizes magnetic patterns
to represent information.
TYPES OF STORAGE DEVICES

Optical Storage Device -

referred to as a disc drive,
optical media, optical
storage. It refers to any
media read using a laser
assembly
TYPES OF STORAGE DEVICES

Flash Memory Device - an

integrated circuit that does
not need continuous
power to retain data, but is
a bit more expensive than
magnetic storage.
ACTIVITY TIME!

DIRECTIONS: Create a chart classifying the types of processing

devices and storage devices. Then, identify the devices and their
functions.
Let’s have a
recap!
Compare and contrast the
functions of CPU and GPU in a
computer system. How do
these processing devices
contribute to the overall
performance and functionality
of a computer?
Imagine you are building a
high-performance gaming PC.
Explain the importance of
selecting a dedicated GPU
versus an integrated GPU for
this setup. How does the choice
impact the computer's ability to
handle graphics-intensive
tasks?
Suppose a computer needs to
store important documents and
photos securely. Suggest a
combination of storage devices
(such as hard drive and flash
drive) that would be suitable
for this purpose. Explain your
reasoning behind the choices.
If someone wants to play video
games on their computer, why
might they need a GPU? Why
do you think having a GPU
could make games look better
on the screen?
Suppose you need to store a
large collection of photos and
videos. Explain which
combination of storage devices
you would use and why.
Consider factors like capacity,
accessibility, and portability.
ASSIGNMENT

Direction: Research examples

of tools, equipment, and testing
devices needed for assembling
computers. Write it on a ½
sheet of paper.
