INTRODUCTION

 How should we work with large amount of data?


 Manually create a number of summarization sheets that compute the data
 Create an outline to group the data elements into useable pieces and then summarize them.
 The process of working with large amount of data can be time-consuming and error prone.
→ Pivot table and Pivot Chart are the powerful tools in Excel in data processing for quickly combine
the data and see the relationships between the values

PIVOT TABLE

A Pivot Table is a table of statistics that summarizes the data of a more extensive table.
Pivot table:
 Allow the extraction of significance from a large, detailed set and it is a useful way to organize data.
 Help users to quickly combine the data and see the relationships between the values. However, it is
not a highly graphical means in displaying that data.
 Be particular useful if having long rows or columns that hold values needed to track the sums of and
easily compare to one another

PIVOT TABLE SELECTION
In order to create a Pivot table, the data need to be under the format that Pivot table feature can
understand. That is,
1. No blank lines can appear in the data
2. Each column must have a header
3. Data must be consistent
 Create a Pivot table: Insert --> Pivot Table --> Pivot Table
