 Involves altering long-term habits including


eating, physical activity & maintaining the new
behavior for months or years.
 Lifestyle modification used to treat range of
diseases such as obesity.

Indians is at risk of

Obesity
 Obesity is a long term(chronic) health condition that progresses over time.
It is defined by excess body fat(adipose tissue) that may impair health.
 Obesity is associated with a higher risk of developing serious diseases,
including:
• TYPE 2 DIABETES
• HEART DISEASES
• CANCER
• According to Centers for disease control & prevention(CDC), In adults,
Obesity is often defined as having a BMI of 30 or more.
BMI (BODY MASS INDEX)
 Body mass index (BMI) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to
adult men and women.

 Factors such as age, sex, ethnicity, and muscle mass can influence the relationship between BMI
and body fat. Also, BMI doesn’t distinguish between excess fat, muscle, or bone mass, nor does
it provide any indication of the distribution of fat among individuals.

is to increase cardiovascular endurance.
 Anaerobic exercise, which includes strength and
resistance training, tone muscles, as well as improve bone
strength, balance, and coordination.

TOBACCO
 Tobacco is a leading commercial crop valued for its leaf containing
several important phyto-chemicals including nicotine.

Conventionally, tobacco is used in the manufacture of cigarettes, bidis,


scented chewing mixtures, cigars, cheroots, zarda, hookah, hookah
tobacco paste, snuff, gutka, quiwam etc.

Tobacco is used as a psychoactive drug, narcotic, pain killer and


pesticide.

which contains hundreds of toxic substances can dry
and irritate the skin and promote wrinkles.
