Compare and Contrast
21. Matthew begins his gospel by talking about the genealogy

22. In each story, God speaks with people through an angel.
God speaks to them telling them to not be afraid and giving
them good news.

they had to go back home to Nazareth.
24. Matthew focuses more on Joseph. Luke focuses more on
Mary.
25. In Matthew Jesus is visited by wise men. In Luke Jesus is
visited by the shepherds.
When did Jesus know he was the Son of God?
Luke 2:40 – The child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom; and the favor of God
was upon him.
Luke 2:49 - And he said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I
must be in my Father’s house?”
We believe that Jesus knew he was the Son of God when he was a child. He always knew
he was the Son of God but as he grew older he gained a better understanding of it. As he
became a teenager and so on, he realized that he was different than others. Although he
was just like everyone else, he had a special bond with God. He started to understand that
he was sent by God to do good for the world and sacrifice himself to save others.
