Modern Indian theatre was first developed in
Bengal. The first bengali play to be written was
Chhadmabes and was written by Gerasim in
1795. The Marathian thertre was founded in
1843 by Visnudas Bhave.
Music
Indian classical music is primarily divided into
Hindustani and Carnatic music. Two prominent
Hindustani singers were Digambar Paluskar and
Vishnu Narayan Bhatkhande. Pandit Ravi Shankar
popularised this type of music.
