1. Overview of the unemployment situation in
Vietnam

Vietnam's unemployment rate held steady around 2.26% between


March 2021 and December 2022, before dipping slightly from
September 2023 to December 2023. This shows that Vietnam's job
market is adaptable, despite the fluctuations in unemployment.

Vietnam's unemployment rate has fluctuated considerably over time, ranging from a high of
3.98% in September 2021 to a much lower 1.80% in December 2011. This highlights the
dynamic nature of Vietnam's job market

Vietnam's workforce has been expanding continuously. In 2023, the total number of people in
the labor force reached 52.5 million, reflecting a significant rise of 401,900 compared to the
previous year

The unemployment rate varied between urban and rural areas. Cities had a slightly higher
unemployment rate of 2.27% compared to the countryside's 1.98%

• Vietnam's labor market in 2022 saw


significant growth. The workforce reached
51.7 million, a jump of 1.1 million from
the previous year.
• The labor force participation rate climbed
to 68.5%, reflecting an increase of 0.8
percentage points year-over-year.

• The number of unemployed working-age individuals dropped by 359,200, bringing the total down
to nearly 1.07 million.
• The positive trend extended to young people (aged 15-24) as well. They formed 37.6% of the total
unemployed population, with their numbers dropping to around 409,300.

Lack of career direction: When students lack career direction,
they may end up choosing a profession that is not suitable for
them.

Some other causes of lack of career direction include:
