HYPERLINKS AND ACTION 4TH QUARTER
WHAT ARE HYPERLINKS? • Hyperlinks are connections that link an object, such as text, shape, or image on a slide in PowerPoint, to another slide, document, or a web page. They enable seamless navigation within a presentation or to external resources.
• Hyperlinks facilitate interactive presentations by allowing
users to jump back and forth between specific slides, access additional resources, or navigate to related content. TYPES OF HYPERLINKS
• Internal Hyperlinks: These connect to different slides
within the same presentation, enabling easy navigation and organization of content.
• External Hyperlinks: These link to web pages, email
addresses, or other documents, expanding the scope of information accessible during a presentation. IMPORTANCE OF HYPERLINKS IN EDUCATIONAL PRESENTATIONS • Enhanced Interactivity: Hyperlinks make educational presentations more engaging by providing students with direct access to relevant content, resources, and references.
• Facilitated Learning: They enable educators to structure
presentations in a non-linear format, allowing students to explore topics at their own pace and delve deeper into specific areas of interest. ADVANTAGES OF USING HYPERLINKS • Efficient Navigation: Hyperlinks streamline the navigation process, making it easier for both educators and students to access specific sections or external resources.
• Interactive Learning: By incorporating hyperlinks,
educators can create interactive learning experiences that encourage active participation and exploration. HOW TO CREATE HYPERLINK IN A PRESENTATION 1.Select the content: Choose the text, image, or shape on your slide that you want to act as the hyperlink. 2.Insert hyperlink menu: Locate the option to insert a hyperlink. This is usually found within an "Insert" tab or by right-clicking on the chosen element. 3.Define the link: A menu or dialog box will appear where you can specify the destination of your hyperlink. There are typically options to link to: 1. Webpages: Enter the full URL of the website you want to direct viewers to. 2. Slides within the presentation: Link to a specific slide within the current presentation for easy navigation. 3. Documents: Create a link to open another document on the user's device. 4. Email addresses: When clicked, this will open the user's default email program with the address pre-filled. 3. Customize the appearance (optional): You can often edit the text that will be displayed on the slide as the hyperlink. This is usually different from the actual URL.
4. Apply and test: Once you've defined the link and any customizations, confirm your changes. Preview your presentation in slideshow mode to ensure the hyperlinks function correctly.
