A brief

Introduction to
Android OS
HOW ANDROID
WAS CREATED?
Android – operating system for cellular telephones and tablets

• Android began in 2003 as a project of the American technology

company Android Inc., to develop an operating system for digital cameras.

• In 2004 the project changed to

become an operating system for
smartphones. Android Inc., was bought
by the American search
engine company Google Inc., in 2005.
• At Google, the Android team decided to
base their project on Linux, an open
source operating system for personal
computers.
On November 5, 2007, Google announced the founding of the Open
Handset Alliance, a consortium of dozens of technology and mobile
telephone companies, including Intel Corporation, Motorola, etc..

The consortium was created in order to develop and promote Android as a

free open source operating system with support for third-party applications.

Android-based devices use wireless networks in

order to take full advantage of features such as
one-touch Google searches, Google Docs
and Google Earth .
The first cellular telephone to feature
the new operating system was the T-
Mobile G1, released on October 22,
2008.

In 2012 Android became the most

popular operating system for mobile
devices, surpassing Apple's iOS, and,
as of 2020, about 75 per cent of
mobile devices run Android.
Android
now and soon
At the moment, there are quite a few
versions of the Android OS.
I can call myself a very old user because I
used version 4.2 of Jelly Beam, which is
outdated today.

Almost all of them have a code name on

the theme of sweets.
From August 15, 2022, the 13th major
release of this operating system is
available. Code name - tiramisu.

Some of new features of version 13 I

consider successful and convenient.
A device that adapts to you
Appreciate the new possibilities of
personalization of Android devices.
Thanks to the development of Material
You, you can customize colours, themes
and languages in applications. Even the
media player will match your musical
taste. Always in the right language

To use several languages - just

like in life - you can set
different language settings for
applications.
Active protection
Android 13 has built-in tools to protect
your personal data. You will receive
notifications whenever applications
access the clipboard. In addition, his
history will be deleted after a certain
period of time. This will help prevent
unwanted access to your data.
You decide what to show

We care about the privacy of

your content. Allow apps to
access only selected photos and
videos, not the entire library.
But this is not the end, because
development does not stand
still and users constantly want
something fresh.

In the 3rd quarter of 2023,

Android will release version 14
of the OS, which is planned to
be even more successful, but
with its BIG NUANCES.

Of course, this is not yet the

Android that users will see.
Restrictions on installing software
from external sources

According to the published code changes,

Android 14 will increase the requirements for
the application API. Therefore, the program
intended for outdated versions of the OS will
not be able to be installed. The rule applies
not only to utilities in Google Play, but also to
all APK files from third-party sources. Satellite communication
Hiroshi Lockheimer, senior vice
president of Google's Android division,
announced the introduction of satellite
communication support in the
fourteenth version of the "green robot".
According to him, work in this direction
is already underway. It provides
communication via satellites in hard-to-
reach places where the network signal
