Introduction
 Labour Act 2048 was enacted following the re-establishment of democracy through the People's
movement 1990.
 Ammendment in 4 September 2017 (19 Bhadra 2074).
 Labor law is concerned over the rights, interest, facility and safety of workers and employee working
in the enterprises of various sectors and increase productivity by ending all forms of labour
exploitation.
 LABOUR ACT -2074 have 24 chapter and 183 section.

Some provision
 Prohibition on employing in forced labour.
 Prohibition on employment of children.
 Prohibition on discrimination.
 Prohibition on discrimination in remuneration for equal work
 Right relating to trade union
Provisions Relating to Work Permit
 Restriction on employment of foreigners
 Foreign citizen to obtain work permit to work in Nepal
 Work permit may be issued
 Language of the contract
 Remuneration may be repatriated in convertible foreign currency

Provisions Relating to Working Hours


Working hour
 No employer shall employ labours to work more than eight hours a day and
forty-eight hours a week.
 half an hour rest after five hours of continuous work
 Not to compel to work overtime
 Provisions relating to overtime
 Additional remuneration to be paid
 Arrangement for transportation to be made
Provisions Relating to Remuneration
 Entitlement of labours to remuneration
 Payment of remuneration
 Entitlement to annual increment in remuneration (grade)
