SMILE?
This approach combines traditional classroom learning with network-enabled e-
learning, integrating established learning theories, models, and instructional practices.
SMILE aims to empower both learners and educators by harnessing technology to
foster creativity and innovation in teaching and learning. This approach ensures that the
learning process is efficient and effective, catering to various learning styles and
preferences.
SMILE integrates cognitive, constructive, experiential, and elaboration learning
theories along with motivational models to create a dynamic and engaging learning
environment.
Simple

• deliver content in a straightforward manner, focusing on core

concepts and avoiding unnecessary complexity.
• Use clear language and visual aids to enhance understanding.
• Break down topics into manageable chunks to facilitate
comprehension.
Monitoring

• involves systematically observing and assessing

students' learning progress and understanding through
various methods such as pre-tests, quizzes, and self-
assessment activities.
• It allows teachers to identify areas where students
may be struggling, adapt instruction to meet
individual needs, and provide timely feedback to
support student learning.
Interactive

• Interactive strategies make learning more engaging and dynamic,

capturing students' attention and interest. This can lead to
increased motivation and participation in the learning process.
• Simulations, streamed video, project teams, chat rooms, bulletin
boards, online references, personalized coaching, and email are
some techniques that could help create an interactive online
environment.
Learner-Centric Environment

• Learner-centric pedagogy prioritizes the interests,

experiences, and preferred learning styles of learners. It
emphasizes their active participation in the learning
process.
• Content design should allow learners to construct
knowledge in their own way, drawing from their
experiences and developing multiple perspectives.
Learners should have the flexibility to learn at their own
pace.
