Loadcases
The steps to create new
loadcases needed to apply
vertical loads
Loadcases
Investigate the existing loadcases in the model
● Open the model saved at the end of the Modelling task
● Go to Load > Loadcases and review the existing loadcases
● The existing loadcases should appear as shown below
Loadcases
Create New Loadcases
● Set the loadcases as shown in the screenshot below
● NOTE: Service load removed to reduce number of loadcases
02
Floor Loading
Applying different types of
loads on the floors
Floor Loading
Applying Loads
● Floor Loads will be applied in the form of:
● Panel Loads
○ Level Loads
○ Line Loads
● Element Loads
○ Line Loads
○ Point Loads
Floor Loading
Level Loads
● On all floor levels:
● Dead = 4.5 kN/m²
● Imposed = 5 kN/m²
Floor Loading
Panel Line Loads
● On St. 1 (First Floor):
● Dead = 1.8 kN/m
● See next slide for line load locations
● Note: Level Loads not shown in next screenshot for clarity
Floor Loading
Element Loads
● On St. 2 (Second Floor) & St. 3 (Third Floor):
● All loads applied on one of the two levels will be copied to the other
● Dead
○ Full UDL = 1.8 kN/m
○ Full UDL = 5 kN/m
○ UDL 1.8 kN/m
● Imposed
○ Point = 125 kN
● See following slides for load locations
● Note: Level Loads turned off in next screenshot for clarity
Floor Loading
Element Loads
● On St. 4 (Fourth Floor):
● Element Point Loads
○ Point = 50 kN
● Screenshot shows both Level and Point Load separately
● Take note that Level Loads are also applied to slab overhangs
03
Loading
Panels
Modelling wind wall and roof
panels preparing the structure
for additional loading
Loading Panels
Roof Panels
● Model roof panels on roof structure
● Set Roof Type Property = Duopitch
● Span Property = 90º
Loading Panels
Wall Panels
● All walls to span horizontally
● Walls on gridlines A, 1 & 7 set to decompose to rigid diaphragms
● Remember Rectangular tick box in Properties window - untick for non rectangular
panels
04
Roof Loading
Applying roof dead and roof
imposed loads
Roof Loading
Roof Dead and Imposed Loads
● Roof Dead
● Load = 0.1 kN/m²
● Measuring = Along Element
● Direction = Global Z
● Roof Imposed
● Load = 0.6 kN/m²
● Measuring = Projected
● Direction = Global Z
05
Wind Loading
Running the Wind Wizard to
apply wind loads onto the
walls and roofs
Wind Loading
Running the Wind Wizard
● Load > Wind Load > Wind Wizard
● BREVe - UK Grid Ref, All Options Off
● Grid Ref = ES298339, Orientation of North = 270º
● Accept all defaults and finish
Wind Loading
Create Wind Loadcases
● Load > Wind Load > Wind
Loadcases
● Create 4 loadcases
● 0, 90, 180 & 270º
● Use +Cpe
● Cpi = -0.3
● Loadcases reduced for
simplicity

Combinations
& Envelopes
Creating Combinations and
Envelopes
Combinations and Envelopes
Creating Combinations
● Load > Structure > Combinations
● Generate
Combinations and Envelopes
Creating Combinations
● Tick all USL types
● Align wind directions with EHFs
● Include EHFs in all directions
Combinations and Envelopes
Envelopes
● Create Max/Min Envelope
● Include all combinations
