WHAT IS COMPUTER

A COMPUTER IS AN ELECTRONIC MACHINE. IT HAS MANY PARTS THAT WORK

TOGETHER TO PERFORM DIFFERENT TYPE OF JOBS. A COMPUTER SYSTEM

MAINLY CONSISTS OF TWO PARTS: HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE


HARDWARE
• All the Physical parts of a computer that you can see and touch are called hardware.

• In a computer, you can see the parts of the hardware that are outside
• For example monitor, Keyboard, Mouse, etc.

• They are attached to the CPU cabinet by cables.

• Some of the parts of the hardware are also inside this cabinet.

• You can see them only when you open the CPU Cabinet, For Example : Hard disk

• The hardware of a computer further classified into three parts

• Input Devices

• Output Devices

• Storage Devices

Input Devices
Input devices are hardware components used to provide data and control signals to a computer

• Keyboard : For typing Letters, words , numbers, and special symbols

• Mouse : To point at, move, and select any item on the monitor

• Microphone : To record your voice and different sounds on a computer

• Scanner : To scan documents or images from paper to the computer

• Monitor : Displays the result or output as a softcopy

• Speakers : Allows you to hear music and hear the sounds stored in a computer

• Printers : To print text or pictures on paper. A printed copy is called printout or a hardcopy

• Headphones : To listening to music and other sounds without disturbing others.

• Hard Disk : To store a huge amount of data

• CD/DVD : To store text, graphics, sounds, images, and videos

• Blu-ray Disc : For recording high definition(HD) videos and storing large amount of data

can be easily carried anywhare
