Sample Topic
 Write your plan on the following topic: (Thesis and 2-3
topic sentences)

 Students aged 13-18 are taught different subjects by

different teachers while younger students are taught
by only one teacher all day long. Some people
suggest it would benefit young students to be taught
by different teachers. Do you agree with this view?
Why or why not?
Sample Plan
 Thesis: As far as I am concerned, providing students with
different teachers could help them flourish in a more
efficient way. In the following paragraphs, my viewpoint will
be elucidated through two remarkable reasons.
 First and foremost, it is established beyond doubt that
having several teachers in school leads to an easier
process of discovering students' skills.
 The second pivotal reason that is worth being taken into
account meticulously is that if students have several
teachers in the primary school, they will be able to develop
a sense of sociability in an easier way.
Class Practice: Model

 The first remarkable reason to be mentioned is that

public speaking increases the speaker’s self-
confidence dramatically.

 The second reason which deserves some words here

is that being prepared for talking to public is essential
for students’ future jobs.

 From my vantage point, improving internet access
should be regarded as one of government's top
priorities. The following reasons will aptly elucidate
my perspective.
 The first remarkable point to be mentioned is that
widespread Internet accessibility elevates all levels of
education from primary schools to universities and
education will not be confined to the traditional
classrooms.

 Furthermore, it is established beyond doubt
that such a development allows people to save
their time and reduce expenses by benefiting
from e-services.

solutions to energy problems by reducing
pollution caused by cars in mega cities.

(Thesis and 2-3 topic sentences)

 Thesis Statement: From my perspective, people should align
themselves with the fact that no scientific belief being held can
be said to be absolutely true, no matter how convincing it is. In
what follows, I am going to aptly delve into the most paramount
reasons to substantiate my viewpoint.
 TS 1: The first remarkable point to be mentioned is that we are
living in an ever-changing world where everything is changing
at a startling speed, and no one can hold up the obsolete
traditions or beliefs and unknowingly repudiate others’ beliefs
or ideas.

PREPARED BY: HAMED Aalaee> www.aalaee.com 14

Class Practice: Model
 TS 2: Another reason which deserves some words
here is that an open mind is a prerequisite for
learning. An adaptable mind is an indispensable
element of learning.
 TS 3: Finally yet importantly, challenging the deep-
rooted beliefs can be conducive to further
improvements and advancements.

THESIS
STATEMENT

 In the preceding decades, governments’ plans and

budget allocation have played a significant role in
present and future generations’ lives. Some people
believe that it is important that governments allot
adequate budget to wild animals and wilderness
protection while others might take an opposite view. I
personally believe that governments should take
protection of animals and wilderness areas as one of
their top priorities. In what follows, I will support my
perspective.

 Nowadays, many movies or films are based on

books. Some people prefer to read the original book
before they watch the movie, others prefer to watch

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Nowadays, many movies or films are based on
books. Some people prefer to read the original book before they watch the movie, others prefer to watch
the movie before reading the book. Which one do you prefer?

 It is no secret that nowadays movies are becoming more popular day

after day. Those who are in the movie industry always mention that
screenplays are the backbone of the movies. Therefore, it’s essential for
movies to have a successful screenplay. To accomplish this mission,
some of screenplay writers choose to write their story based on books
which have passed their evaluation. The controversial question which
arises here is whether, in this case, it’s better to watch the movie first or
they should start the journey by reading the book. As far as I am
concerned, it is better to read a book in advance, instead of watching a
movie which is adopted from the book first. There are several noticeable
reasons two of which I will aptly elucidate in the following paragraphs.

Class Practice: Writing an Intro
 Write an intro on the following topic:
 At some universities students take part in making
decisions about the issues that affect daily life of
everyone on campus such as how many hours the
libraries should be open each day or what kinds of food
should be served in the cafeteria. But at some
universities, experts are hired to make these decisions,
and students are almost never involved. Which approach
do you prefer and why?

 Since the dawn of civilization and industrialization, the role of universities

in achieving a better society and environment for living has been
undeniable. Beyond any doubt, if universities are administered effectively,
then they can have crucial and positive impacts on every aspect of
modern world such as economy, politics, and so on. An unavoidable
question which always has been the topic of controversy and brought
about heated debates is whether students should take part in making
decisions about the campus affairs. Whether one agrees or disagrees
with this depends on the lens through which one is looking. Both
adherents and opponents provide substantial reasons for the option they
support. From my vantage point, students should be involved in making
campus affair decisions although some might find this controversial. In
what follows, I will elaborate on my perspective.

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement
Only movies that can teach us something about real life is worth watching.

 Today it is almost axiomatic that watching movies and television

series is an indispensable part of people’s recreation. The question
then is whether these movies need to be necessarily instructive or
not. Some people may consider movies as a means that provide
people with entertainment whereas some others may take an
opposite view point and think that not only should movies be
educative, but they also should aim to encourage virtue and
mortify vice. So far as I am concerned, I contend that, not denying
the prominent role that movies and media, in general, can play to
heighten the moral attitudes in the society, the essence of movies
is amusement. Further discussion on this argument can be boiled
down to a couple of upcoming reasons below.
