Concept of Information

Systems and Software

SDLC

 The software development life cycle (SDLC) is a framework defining tasks performed at
each step in the software development process
 SDLC is a structure followed by a development team within the software organization ◻ It
consists of a detailed plan describing how to develop, maintain and replace specific
software
 It consists of a detailed plan describing how to develop, maintain and replace specific
software
 The life cycle defines a methodology for improving the quality of software and the overall
development process

Pharmacy Information System
Pharmacy Information System(PIS)

 Pharmacy Information System or Pharmacy Management System is an excellent system

that stores data and allows functionality to maintain and organize the medication use and
process within pharmacies. The system is an independent technology, particularly in use
for pharmacies and hospital settings.
 The developer uses this opportunity to help the pharmacist in selecting the right medicine
for the patient. A pharmacy information system is used to reduce medication errors, report
drug usage, and increase patient safety. The system is used in the hospital, long-term care
facilities, and home health care.
Features of Pharmacy Management System

 1. Report
 2. Should be easy to utilize user-friendly inputs
 3. HIPAA Compliance Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
 4. ePrescription
 5. User Management Module
 6. Data Loading and Reporting Abilities
 7. SMS and notification and multi-location support
Benefits of Pharmacy Management Software
 1. Recognized Expire Items
 2. Barcode Label and Patient Medical History
 3. Customer Shopping Behaviour
Hospital Pharmacy Information System
Hospital Pharmacy Information System

 In hospitals, the pharmacy information system (PIS) is usually a sub-system of the

hospital information system (HIS). The PIS supports the distribution and
management of drugs, shows drug and medical device inventory, and
facilitates preparing needed reports
 Hospital management systems allows us the ability to optimize and digitize all
the processes within the institution, which will help to improve customer
service, reduce process costs, streamline the search of medical records, bills,
patients, doctors, etc.; thus, having a database of each module implemented.
Components of Hospital Pharmacy Information
System
 1)Computer Hardware
 Refers to the physical components of computer system and related devices
 2) Information servers
 It usually a large capacity computers that aims to serve as an online repository of information
resources
 3)System Network
 Collection of wired/ wireless , h/w and s/w that allows all computers linked to the n/w and used
to share the information
 4)Application software
 Include pharmacy software package
