Our presentation topic is
Transforms and fourier series
Transforms
Fourier series
This unit provides the basic tools in the use of complex variables to solve practical problems in
Applied Mathematics and Physics. It continues the use of integral transform methods to solve
ordinary and partial differential equations.

Fourier Series:
A Fourier series is a way of representing
a periodic function as a (possibly infinite)
sum of sine and cosine functions. It is
analogous to a Taylor series, which represents
functions as possibly infinite sums of
monomial terms.
The mathematical expression

is the furiar series if its co-efficient A0, An & Bn are

A0 =

An=
Bn=

 Even Function :
A function f(x) is called even if f(-x)= f(x) graphically an even function is symentrical
about the y-axis.

example : 1

f( x ) = x^2+cosx;
f(-x) = (-x)^2 + cosx;
=x^2+cosx;

Fourier series for even function :

f(x) =
 Where,
A.0 =

A.n=1 / π∫π−f(t)cosntdt
Half range fourier cosine sine series :

When the fourier series has only the cosign term or only
the sign term then we call it half range fourier sine ,cosine
respectivly.

When we want to find out a half range series

correspondly to give function, the function must be
defined the interval (0, π=3.1416) which is the half of the
interval (π, -π) and the function is defined as odd or even,
so that it is clearly defined in the other half interval ( -π ,
0) . In such a cause we have B.n=0 , A.n=
 On the other hand ,
where A.n= 0 , B.n =
