I am the Director of the Residential Business
Community with the Broad College. This Fall is my
39th Fall at MSU! I earned my undergraduate and
graduate degrees at MSU. I have worked as a student
or professional at MSU for almost 40 years I met my
husband, Andrew, at MSU. We have three amazing
adult children. When I am not in the office I am
usually teaching. I teach Business Freshmen Seminar,
Introduction to Business, and Business Sophomore
Seminar. I am the instructional leader for the
“Business of the Olympics” education abroad
program. Most of all, I care about students and am a
true advocate for Spartan success! I strive to be the
best partner, parent and professional that I may be. I

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course takes a multidisciplinary approach to introducing students to the world of
business. To accomplish this goal, the course blends the following interrelated topics
that explore: 1. What is business, what do businesses do, and what does it mean to be
business literate? 2. What is the Digital Era, what is blockchain, what is the Industrial
Internet, and how are Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Augmented
Reality (AR), and Virtual Reality (VR) used in business today? 3. What do successful
business leaders need to know to be relevant in a global marketplace? 4. What is the
role of business in society? 5. What are business leaders’ personal and professional
responsibilities
