TYPES OF EVOLUTION
• Convergent Evolution
Resulting physiology or
behaviors is response to similar
selective pressures from similar
environments
• There is an increase in
similarities among species
derived from different ancestors

Divergent Evolution is splitting of an ancestral population into
two or more sub-populations that are geographically isolated
from one another.
Parallel Evolution
• related species (but from different clades) are physically separated
but still developed similar features in their different locations
