part of our safety program
 Everyone must plan safety into the
workplace. How?
 If everyone is involved in the process, then
we can:-
 Identify hazards and risks
 Install precautionary measures
 Work safely around others and be responsible
 Thus, no one gets hurt in the workplace

– majority in construction, oil & gas, roads, etc..

Putting any part of your body in a position / place where you are
directly exposed to the hazard..

Construction workers are exposed to a wider variety of
hazards.
The risk of work-related
injury or fatality is greater
than any other industry.
To prevent breaching the
‘LOF’ for yourself or
others, you MUST:
Be aware of the constantly
changing work environment
 Complete concentration on
the task you are performing

Offshore Project statistics show major number of injuries
when in the LOF relate to: FAC (First Aid Case), (MTC)
Medical Treatment Case, (RWC) Restricted Work Case,
(LTI) Lost Time Incident ..
1.Eye Injuries - can lead to blindness, the loss of an eye,
diminished vision and/or limited ability to see.
2.Hand / Finger Injuries

Areas should be marked with caution signs / barricaded if
intensive welding and other hazardous operation are
occurring.

Welding and grinding work can involve those doing
their job in close proximity to each other.
In certain cases, welding
can become very
dangerous.
One examples is welding
in a confined space
•Sparks can be projected
on to yourself, or others
nearby.
•Precautions?

Always wear eye protection and use a welding screen to
prevent welding flash or sparks causing injury to you or
others.

fire.

secured, particularly when transporting pipes and other

rope, slings, lifting hooks, chains, etc.,

Ensure rigorous use of Permit to Work by competent
personnel who are trained to perform ground excavation
activities.
To avoid serious accidents during
excavation work & confined
space entry:
•You must be aware of emergency
systems such as FBH, BA, suitable
access & egress.

Survival can depend on how quickly


you can escape – don BA / climb out..

These workers are not protected from


a cave-in, nor do they have any apparent
safe access or egress from the trench.

Ensure the suitable guards and supports are installed on


the equipment and material to prevent serious accident
when working underneath.

Each workplace contains hazards, which may seriously injure


you and others.

Before starting any work, ask yourself :


What can go wrong? Identify Hazards
What are the consequences? Damage to You, Property, Envi.
How can I prevent it from happening? Precautions

Stop the job if you feel it is unsafe,


report to your supervisor immediately!

 Report any hazard or dangerous situation at work to the
supervisor;

 Don’t be afraid to ask questions


about anything you do not
understand.
