PROFESSIONAL LEARNING OUTCOME: Being able to produce a well-organized piece of writing is ,
without doubt, a trademark of any professional. Today, higher education students need to explore the
writing process as a whole so that they can become aware of the need to achieve this important skill.
Business professionals will be required to produce pieces of writing as part of their jobs, so this course
is paramount to provide key tools to achieve this.

WRITING PROCESS
Phase 1: Pre-writing
Prewriting is the first stage
of the writing process and
the point at which we
discover and explore our
initial ideas about a subject.
STEP 1: Choose a topic

• Sometimes you can choose the writing topic. What topics would
you like to write about? Write one of those topics in the chat now.
• Sometimes you have to write about a topic you may not know
much. What can you do? Write one of those topics in the chat now.
STEP 2: Gather ideas
You may use different techniques:
Brainstorming
Listing
Freewriting
Clustering
BRAINSTORMING
• Jot down all the ideas you have about the topic without
a specific order.
• Do not worry about accuracy.
• Write everything that comes into your head.

Jot down sub-topics and list ideas for each one

Rewriting is to write
