Mouse Control
• The first skill that a child should learn is the
ability to properly click a computer mouse.
• Left-click is the main mouse button and is
used for common task such as selecting objects
and double-clicking.
• Right-click is often used to open menus.

Drag and Drop
• Drag and drop is another skill that might
take sometime to achieve successfully.
• Kids must learn how to properly select an
object by “grabbing” it and dropping it to a
different location or onto another object.

• Kids should also learn keyboarding skills.
• They can learn where the letters are in the
keyboard, and they can learn to correctly
position their fingers on the keyboard.

• Another technique to help students learn to
get around easily on the computer is to
include computer words on the word wall.
• Words such as: SHIFT, ENTER,
BACKSPACE, DEL or DELETE, and
ARROW KEYS (up, down, left, right).

• Young learners should learn how to:
• Click once on the left side of the mouse
• Drag and drop
• Identify the space bar, enter key, shift key, backspace, delete key
and arrow keys
• Use the arrows to move around on a page
• Use the spacebar to provide space on typing letter and words
