Discussion Overview
The Nusa Tenggara islands or the Lesser Sunda Islands are groups of
islands to the east of Java, from Bali to the west, to Timor to the east.
West Nusa Tenggara
The islands of Nusa Tenggara are located on two routes which are an
extension of the western part of the Banda arc.
Greantiklinal in the north stretching from east to Romang, Wetar, Goat,
Alor, Pantar, Lomblen, Solor, Adonara, Flores, Komodo, Sumbawa,
Lombok and Bali islands.
The outer bow in the southern part consists of the islands of Timor,
Seram, Roti, Sawu, Raijua and Dana Geantiklinal Backs branching out
in the Sawu area.
The Morphology of Each Island in the Nusa
Tenggara Islands
Sea, River, Lake: 1%
Volcanic: 90%
Mainland: 3% Karst: 1%
Most land is scattered in the area around Mataram So based on the percentage, West
and at least in the Sumbawa area (plampang). Nusa Tenggara (NTB) is more
dominated by volcanic landforms.
The forms of land in NTT are as follows: Karst: 6%
Mainland: 10% Structural: 45%
Volcanic: 36% Structural landforms occur due to the influence of
Volcanic landforms are landforms that are geological structures. In East Nusa Tenggara, most
affected by volcanic activity processes. in East of the landforms are in Kupang and a small

1. Back deep
To the east of Flores, the rear trough of the Nusa Landmark
Islands is formed by the western part of the South Banda Basin.
Northwest Flores Sea
The Central Flores Basin is triangular in shape
East of Flores consists of ridges and troughs
2. Inner Act
The inner bow of Nusa Tenggara connects Java with the Banda Inner
Bow, thus forming a long path of fertile volcanic islands.
consists of :
Morphology of the Island of Bali
Morphology of Lombok Island
The Morphology of Sumbawa Island
Flores Island Morphology
3. Trough Between the Sumba (Inner Deep)
The trough between the Nusa Tenggara islands lies
between the volcanic deep arc of Java-Bali-Lombok and
the underwater ridge to the south of Java in its 2000 m,
width of 175 Km.
4. Morphology of the island of Sumba
Sumba is the most important geological link between the inner
and outer arcs of the Sundanese mountain system. Young
volcanoes do not exist, the land is covered by the Deposite
marinie neogen Quarter which is widely distributed as ’’ bad
land ’’ (jewelry type).
5. Outer Acr
The islands of Nusa Tenggara which include outer arcs are Dana, Raijua,
Sawu, Roti, Semau and Timor islands. The underwater ridge from
southern Java appears up to 1200 m below sea level, then decreases
eastward to a depth of 4000 m, then the geanticlinal axis rises again to
Sewu Island, Dana and Raijua.
consists of :
The morphology of the islet island
Morphology of the Island of Bread
Morphology of the island of Timor
6. Front trough
Between Christmas Island and the underwater ridge to the
south of Java there is a main deep moat, stretching from east to
west to a depth of 7450 m. The Javanese front trough, from the
Sunda ridge system, stretches to the east of a narrow trench
that is 6000-7000 m deep, until in Sumba the depth is reduced
and in the south Savu is curved northeastward parallel to the
island of Timor. Arriving on Roti Island a ridge (1940 m)
separates this western part of the Timor trench (-3310 m).
