Sikkim is a small state located


in north-eastern part of India
with full of natural beauty,
spirituality, unique local culture
and rich history. BY:- Akshita

Here are some of the Historical monuments:-

1. Rabdentse Ruins
Best time to visit: March-May is the best
time to visit due to pleasant weather.
Location: Geyzing, Sikkim 737111
Timing: 10am–5pm

Rebdentse place was the 2nd capital of


Sikkim’s former Kingdom from 1670- 1814.
It was destroyed by invading Gurkha army
and now only the ruins of the palace and
the chortens, are seen there.
2. Dubdi Monastery
Location: Near Yuksom, Sikkim 737113
Timing: 07:00 am – 04:00 pm

It is the Buddhist monastery of the


Nyingma sect of Tibetan Buddhism which
is also known as Yuksom Monastery. It is
the oldest monastery in Sikkim which was
established in 1701 by Chogyal Namgyal.
The monastery has painted interiors,
ancient artworks and rare manuscripts that
depict the history and culture of Sikkim.
3. Coronation Throne of
Norbugang
Location- Norbu gang, Yaksum west Sikkim

Coronation Throne of Norbugang is the historical


location of the crowning ceremony of the first Chogyal
king (Phuntsog Namgyal) in the year 1642. After the
ceremony, a wall-like structure named Norbugang
Chorten was erected in his memory.
The place is famous for the footprints of one of the three
Lamas.
4. Siddheshwar
Dham
Location: Namchi, Namthang Rd, Sikkim
Timing: 06:00 AM to 09:00 PM

Siddheshwar Dham is a Hindu temple


complex. The beauty of this temple is the
108 feet high statue of Lord Shiva. It is a
replica of the Char Dham temples of India
and hence, it is also called Char Dham
Temple of Sikkim.
5. Buddha Park
Location- near Ravangla, South Sikkim district
Time- 9 am to 5 pm

The Buddha Park of Sikkim/ Tathagata Tsal is


a beautiful and serene place that showcases
the life and teachings of the Buddha. It was
inaugurated in 2013 by the Dalai Lama.
The park features a 130-foot-high statue of the
Buddha, made of copper and gold which is
surrounded by a lake, a fountain, a meditation
center, a museum and a gallery.
Yuksom
Yuksom is a small town situated in Sikkim.
The town is popular for its rich cultural heritage and
it is an important pilgrimage site for Tibetan
Buddhists.
