Portable networks graphic (PNG)
Tagged image file format (TIFF or TIF)
What is a JPEG?
• The term JPEG is an acronym for the Joint Photographic
Experts Group, which is the name of the International
Organization for Standardization (ISO) subcommittee
that helped create the standard in 1992.
• A JPEG is an image format and file extension that is used
in a wide variety of internet mediums, such as blog
posts, company websites and social media posts. JPEGs
are modern image formats that allow for convenient
internet usage and have a variety of features to make
them optimal for posting and high-speed uploads and
downloads.
What is a GIF?
• A GIF, or Graphics Interchange Format,
is a file format that people most
commonly use for animated images.
GIFs are popular for images that have
few colors because they cannot support
large amounts of colors. They have an
8-bit limitation and a small file size.
What is SVG?
• A SVG, or Scalable Vector Graphics, is an
XLM-based vector image format for
two-dimensional graphics, such as
icons, diagrams or logos. SVGs maintain
their quality regardless of its size, which
makes them a valuable tool for web
design. You can edit SVG files in both
text and graphic editing programs.
What is PNG?
• A PNG, or Portable Network Graphics, is
a lossless file type, which means that an
image maintains its quality no matter
how many times you've edited it. It also
supports transparency, so the
background can show through an
image with transparent parts. This file
type can be ideal for web pages and
other web applications.
What is TIFF?
• TIFF, or Tagged Image File Format, is a large
file format that allows for high-quality
images, which makes it a popular file
format for photography. You can use TIFFs
for print images, but many people avoid
using them on the web due to their long
loading times. A lot of web browsers require
plug-ins to display TIFF files because of
their size.
