Continuous media resource model

• Continuous media resource model is a framework used in the design and

implementation of multimedia applications. It provides a set of guidelines for
managing digital media resources such as audio, video, and images.
• The model allows for the delivery of continuous media streams over
networks with varying bandwidths and quality of service levels. It also
provides mechanisms for synchronization, error recovery, and content
adaptation.
Components of Continuous Media Resource Model

 The continuous media resource model consists of three main components:

the media server, the client, and the network.
 The media server is responsible for storing and delivering the multimedia
content to the clients. The client is the device or software application that
receives and plays back the content. The network provides the
infrastructure for transmitting the data between the server and client.
Media Server in Continuous Media Resource
Model

 The media server in the continuous media resource model stores and
manages the multimedia content. It is responsible for encoding the
content into formats suitable for transmission over the network.
 The media server also performs functions such as content
synchronization, error recovery, and content adaptation. It can adjust
the bitrate and resolution of the content based on the available
network bandwidth and the capabilities of the client device.
Client in Continuous Media Resource Model

 The client in the continuous media resource model receives and plays
back the multimedia content from the media server. It can be a hardware
device such as a set-top box or a software application running on a
computer or mobile device.
 The client is responsible for decoding the content and rendering it to the
user. It also provides features such as pause, rewind, and fast-forward.
The client can communicate with the media server to request different
versions of the content based on the network conditions.
Network in Continuous Media Resource Model

 The network in the continuous media resource model provides the

infrastructure for transmitting the multimedia content between the media
server and client. It can be a wired or wireless network, and can have
varying levels of bandwidth and quality of service.
 The network can also introduce errors and delays in the transmission of
the content. The continuous media resource model includes mechanisms
for error recovery and synchronization to ensure that the content is
delivered correctly and in a timely manner.
Applications of Continuous Media Resource
Model

 The continuous media resource model is used in a wide range of

multimedia applications, including video streaming, online gaming, and
virtual reality.
 It provides a flexible and scalable framework for delivering high-quality
multimedia content over networks with varying characteristics. The
model can also be extended to support new types of media and devices as
they emerge.
