WHAT IS CONSTRUCTIVISM?

• Learns communicate with each other, and share their


understanding, feelings, Knowledge and experience, to come up
with new knowledge.
• The teacher become the facilitator , and the learners are
encouraged to interact , exchange views and experience.
• Not a linear process.
• Learning is active not passive.
ORIGINS

• Constructivism evolved from Jean Piaget’s and Jerome


Bruner’s theory of cognitive development. Later, Lev
Vygotsky emphasized the importance of social
interaction in the construction of knowledge and
learning. (David L, 2016.)
MEANING OF CONSTRUCTIVISM
• The verb “ to construct” comes from the Latin con struere, which means
to arrange or give structure.
• Structuring(organizing) process are the conceptual heart of
constructivism.
• Constructivists belive that the process of actively engaging in building
new knowledge structure is how new knowledge is created.
• Constructivism is based on the people actively construct or make their
own knowledge, and that reality is determined by your experiences as a
learners.
• Constructivism is the theory that says learners construct
knowledge rather than just passively take in information.

• Learners us their previous knowledge as a foundation and build


on it With new things what they learned.

• Everyone's individual experiences make their learning unique to


them.
• Constructivism is an important learning theory that educators use to help
their students learn.
DEFINITION OF CONSTRUCTIVISM
• Constructivist learning theory states that learning is not
transferred, but rather is “constructed” by the learner based on
their personal experiences and view of the world.
• Constructivism says that the people construct their own
understanding and knowledge of the world through experiencing
things and reflecting on those experiences.
• The constructivist learning theory explains that we learn by
‘constructing’ knowledge in our mind through interaction with
our environments.
