Location – Siramtoli , Ranchi(Jharkhand)

Scope – Construction of a 4 lane, an elevated road ,


and a road over bridge

Purpose – To enhance traffic flow, reduce congestion


and provide improved connectivity to various
parts of ranchi.It connects siramtoli chowk via
Rajendra chowk to mecon and four laning of
Neori Kokar chowk- Namkum road
PROJECT OVERVIEW
Total length – 2.34 km
Company – Larsen & Toubro(L&T)
Type – Cable stayed bridge
Project time – 18 month
Estimated Cost – Rs 224.9 crore

FOUNDATION
Piles and the Pile cap comes under the
Foundation part. The function of pile is to
transfer the load to the soil. Three types of pile
are there:
1. End bearing pile .
2. Friction pile.
3. End bearing and friction pile
In this project we used End bearing Pile, some
parts of the load transferred by the pile by end
of pile and remaining load is by the friction
between pile and the surface of soil around the
pile.
PILE CAP
A pile cap is a thick concrete mat to
create a stable foundation. The
concrete pile cap will then distribute the
entire load of the structure.

Piles usually exists as a group which are
all integrated by means of a pile cap as
shown in figure.
Piles carrying very heavy point loads
tend to produce high tensile stress at the
pile cap. Reinforcement is thus designed
to provide:-
1. Resistance to tensile bending forces in
the bottom of the cap.
2. Resistance to the vertical shear.
Design and Specification of Pile
Pile foundation with pile cap
•No. of piles-4 for Abutments & 9 for piers.
•M35 Grade Concrete is used for casting piles &
pile cap.
•Depth of pile 32000 mm & Dia of pile 1200 mm.
•Depth of pile cap is 3000 mm.
•Bars used-Fe 500 T or Steel Bar of Dia 28 mm
and Dia 32 mm.
PILLING DRILLING
AGGREGATE IMPACT VALUE TEST
AIV(IS 23866 PART4) – To determine the
aggregate value of coarse aggregate .It gives a
resistance of an aggregate to sudden shock or
impact.
Apparatus
1.AIV testing machine (13.9 kg hammer)
2.Electronic balance
3.Sieve 12.5mm, 10mm,2.36mm
4.Test trays
