THE VARIOUS
HAZARDS THAT MAY
HAPPEN IN THE
WAKE OF:

TROPICAL
CYCLONES ;MONSO

What are the hazards associated with a cyclone?

Those that form in the tropics may also be

called hurricanes, typhoons, tropicalstorms, and
tropical depressions, depending on their size and
intensity. The main hazards associated
with tropical cyclones are wind
gusts and heavy rainfall, but considerable
coastal erosion and storm surges can also
happen.
What is a cyclone storm?

A tropical cyclone is a non-frontal storm system

that is characterised by a low pressure center,
spiral rain bands and strong winds. Usually it
originates over tropical or subtropical waters and
rotates clockwise in the southern hemisphere and
counter-clockwise in the northern hemisphere.
What is the cause of a tropical cyclone?

Tropical cyclones typically form over

large bodies of relatively warm water.
They derive their energy through the
evaporation of water from the ocean
surface, which ultimately recondenses
into clouds and rain when moist air rises
and cools to saturation.
What are the effects of the cyclone?

The main effects of

tropical cyclones include heavy rain,
strong wind, large storm surges at
landfall, and tornadoes. The
destruction from a
tropical cyclone depends mainly on
its intensity, its size, and its location.
How is a cyclone formed?

A tropical cyclone needs two main

ingredients: a cluster of thunderstorms
and a warm body of water – at least
27ºC – from which the storm gathers its
energy. The warm, tropical ocean under
a developing storm evaporates then
condenses to formclouds, releasing
heat throughout the process.
Floods
What is the cause of a tornado?

The intense spinning of

a tornado is partly the result of
the updrafts and downdrafts in
the thunderstorm (caused by the
unstable air) interacting with the
wind shear, resulting in a tilting
of the wind shear to form an
upright tornado vortex.
How many different types of tornadoes are
there?

Types of Tornadoes. Tornadoes come from

mainly two types of thunderstorms: supercell
and non-supercell. Tornadoes that come from
a supercell thunderstorm are the most
common, and often the most dangerous. A
rotating updraft is a key to the development of
a supercell, and eventually a tornado.
What is the cause and effect of a tornado?

Tornadoes are cause by the thunderstorms being

extremely large, unstable and with wind shear in the
lower region of the atmosphere. ... Firstly, when the
thunderstorm approaches, the wind direction, speed
changes in the upper area of the atmosphere
and causes an invisible horizontal spinning effect in the
lower region.
Monsoons
A monsoon is a seasonal change in the
direction of the prevailing, or strongest, winds
of a region. Monsoons cause wet and dry
seasons throughout much of the
tropics.Monsoons are most often associated
with the Indian Ocean.Monsoons always blow
from cold to warm regions.
How is the monsoon caused?

The monsoon, which is essentially the seasonal reversal in

wind direction, causesmost of the rainfall received in India and
some other parts of the world. The
primarycause of monsoons is the difference between annual
temperature trends over land and sea.
We can’t stop natural disasters but we can arm ourselves with
knowledge.
So many lives wouldn’t have to be lost if there was enough
disaster preparedness.
be ready always in the time of natural disasters
:

: be updated
:don’t panic
:prepare all the emergency kit
:evacuate as early as possible
:ALWAYS PRAY TO GOD
IN TIMES OF DISASTER,BEING PREPARED WILL MAKE YOU SURVIVE.
