Test is a device containing a set of
sequentially arranged questions given to
students to provide their responses
individually.

Definition of Achievement test

Any test that measures the attainments of


an individual after a period of training or
learning is called an achievement test.

 Teacher made test and

Teacher Made Test

Teacher Made Test are specific to the


syllabus, portion covered, standard in
which the students are studying and
their general ability.
(e.g) Short answer, Fill in the blanks etc

Standardized Test

Standardized Test means the subject contents


are selected and based upon the question
paper is prepared, test items in the question
paper are verified by experts, uniform test
procedure and scoring system are developed.
(Civil service, competitive exam etc)
Criterion Referenced Test

 Tests that evaluate students how far they


have achieved in the subject content and
skills in a particular content area are
called criterion reference test.
 (e.g) Criteria/cut off NET, SET etc)
Non Referenced Test

 Norm referenced tests compare the


performance score of an individual with
the average performance of his group
called non referenced tests.
 (e.g) IQ Test etc
Diagnostic Test

 A test that helps the teacher to identify the concepts in


the content area taught, which students struggle to
learn and the nature of difficulties experienced by
them is called diagnostic test.
Uses of diagnostic test
 Identifying the learning concepts and students struggle
to learn.
 Finding the errors, students commit and their nature.
 Identifying the inadequacy in specific skills that are
required to understand.
 Require individualized instruction
 Modification required in the teaching method.
 Providing feedback to the teacher and students in the
teaching learning process.

Mechanical Aptitude Test
 Mechanical aptitude tests is evaluating
mechanical understanding and mechanical
knowledge.
 In the test for assembling things, parts of cycle,
bell, lock, making blocks, cubes etc.
Differential Aptitude Test
 Integrated test developed by George k. Bennett, Harold G. Seashore and
Alexander G Wesman in 1947 revised in 1963.
 There are 8 subtests in it. They are

 Abstract Reasoning
 Spatial Relations
 Mechanical Reasoning

Verbal Reasoning
 A verbal reasoning test is used to assess the ability to
understand written passages.
 They are designed to measure verbal comprehension, reasoning
and logic, all through your understanding of language.
 An example of verbal reasoning is reading or hearing some
information or problem, processing the information, forming a
theory, and using this to evaluate the outcome of a problem.
Numerical Ability

 The ability of an individual to execute tasks relating to the


handling of numbers.

 A numerical reasoning test is used to assess a candidate's ability
to handle and interpret numerical data in the form of tables or
graphs.
(e.g) The ability to understand basic arithmetical operations
such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Abstract Reasoning is the ability to quickly identify
patterns and follow diagrammatic instructions.
Spatial Relations
 Spatial reasoning tests are tests that are designed to
determine a candidate's ability to manipulate 2D and
3D objects, visualize movements and change between
shapes, and spot patterns between those shapes.
Mechanical Reasoning

 Mechanical reasoning test that measures how you


apply mechanical principles to solve problems.
Clerical Speed and Accuracy

 Clerical Speed & Accuracy is to measuring


a candidate's ability to read quickly,
compare sets of information, and make
simple decisions.

Language use spelling

 Spelling is the ability to spell words in the correct way.


It is also an attempt to spell a word in the correct way.
 Examples :tree, bee, doll, toy, chair, mother, father,
piece, peace, camel, horse, family, friend, pony, jump,
forest, deer, clouds, earth, moon, sun, jelly, bees,
monkey, bull, etc.

 A sentence is given. The examinee has


to indicate which section contains
errors.
