Protection of Children Barangay Council for the Protection of Children is a body of responsible members of the community which includes a representative of the government and private agencies/offices concerned with the welfare of Children and Youth whose area of assignment includes the particular barangay. To ensure the survival, development, protection and participation of children and youth at the barangay or community level.
To have an organized, effective and responsive community - based
structure that will promote and guarantee the welfare, safety, health, good moral environment and wholesome development of children and youth in every barangay. Who shall organize the BCPC? The Barangay Chairperson (Punong Barangay) may spearhead the organization of the Barangay Council for the Protection of Children (BCPC).
The DILG – Memorandum Circular No. 2002-121 shall be the basis
in organizing the composition of BCPC. BCPC Functions BCPC FUNCTIONS RECOMMENDED BCPC ACTIVITIES 1. Maintain proper documentation of all BCPC activities in the barangay FUNDING FOR BCPC Each Barangay shall appropriate in its annual budget one percent (1%) of its internal revenue allotment (IRA) for the strengthening and implementation of the programs of the LCPC. The LGU shall be responsible for the disbursement of the fund, however, the one percent (1%) IRA allocation is different from the budget disbursed by the LGU for social services. “Our children are our future.
