Objective and Scope of the Digital

• Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023
• The following Act of Parliament received the assent of the President
on the 11th August, 2023
• The India Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (DPDPA) is a
landmark legislation that aims to safeguard the privacy of
individuals in the digital age.
• An Act to provide for the processing of digital personal data in a
manner that recognises both the right of individuals to protect their
personal data and the need to process such personal data for lawful
purposes and for matters connected therewith.
• The DPDPA protects personal data that is processed in India,
regardless of whether the data was originally collected in India or
elsewhere. The Act also applies to the processing of personal data of
Indian citizens, even if the data is processed outside of India.

Patents
• A patent is a limited property right the government gives inventors in
exchange for their agreement to share details of their inventions with
the public.
• A patent is a legal right to an invention given to a person or entity
without interference from others who wish to replicate, use, or sell it.
• The Telephone: Patented by Alexander Graham Bell in 1876. The
Lightbulb: Patented in 1878 by Thomas Edison.
Trademark
• A trademark is a sign capable of distinguishing the goods or services
of one enterprise from those of other enterprises.
• To protect a name or symbol on a product or products so that it
cannot be used by other companies without permission.
Copyrights
• Copyright (or author's right) is a legal term used to describe the rights
that creators have over their literary and artistic works.
• Copyright refers to the legal right of the owner of intellectual
property.
• A trademark protects a brand, name, logo, shape or slogan used to
sell products and services. A copyright protects original creative
expressions such as artistic, literary, and dramatic works
