Follow the instructions in solution emc224649: "How to handle Symmetrix VMAX Series Service
Processor issues.“
The symapi_db.bin has been corrupted during the Enginuity 5772 to 5773 NDU process.
A permanent solution exists for this issue but intervention from EMC technical support personnel is
required. Support personnel must access your storage system to fix this issue. Contact the EMC
Customer Support Center or your service representative for technical assistance and quote this
solution ID.
Red box:
Script 00000651: Message 0x000005E5.0x33AE:
There are several fixes that must be loaded already
at this point, yet they are missing. 56656 for example.
Procedure cannot continue. Please call EMC Support Center
Warning!!: If you encounter the script red box you CANNOT now install the E-Pack because you
already installed SymmWin 5875.198.148 onto the Service Processor.
You must refer to solution emc256647. Follow the procedure given here. Use the rollback utility to re-
image the Service Processor to 5874. Then you can load the mandatory E-Pack BEFORE installing
5875 and starting the NDU.
If this process is unclear, consult with your local Config FSS/RTS, or contact the SP&S/SSR Team.
SymmPiT is a tool generated and provided by EMC Field Service, support cannot be given for all
Office and Windows flavors.
As of July 2011
• SymmPiT currently supports Windows XP or Windows 7 32-bit environments. Support for 64-bit OS is
pending.
• Office 2003 is supported with all SymmPiT versions up to V1.65. From V1.66 onwards Office 2007 is
required.
• SymmPIT supports all Enginuity releases from 5772 upwards.
The SYMCLI command symdisk -sid xxx show yyy:zz -gaps shows GAPs between all devices.
EMC Engineering has determined that this is a display issue and a permanent fix is in progress.
Field Service: Engineering has determined that the GAPs appearing between the devices are due to a
display issue. There is a difference as to how SymmWin and Enginuity report these GAPs. Both use
different calculations and they report different numbers. The Enginuity calculation is the correct one.
Products Supported:
• Symmetrix V-Max, DMX-3 & DMX-4, DMX-1 & DMX-2
• Symmetrix 5.x (From Q4’09, limited support. Testing using generic configurations only)
• Refer to emc220438 for full details
