presented. LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATION What is LANGUAGE? Language is a system of conventional spoken, manual (signed), or written symbols by means of which human beings, as members of a social group and participants in its culture, express themselves. Concepts LANGUAGE onSpeech Community is when a group of people share the same set of rules in the language system.
Language Acquisition is when people acquire the languages used
by those in the community. • Mother Tongue is the first language learned. • Second Language is other languages that need to be learned. Concepts LANGUAGE onLanguage Learning is when people learn the language by studying formally in school or informally on their own. What is COMMUNICATION? Communication is the exchange of thoughts, ideas, concepts, and views between or among two or more people, various contexts come into play.
Context is the circumstance or environment in which
communication takes place. Types of ACCORDING TO MODE Communivation Verbal communication is the use of language to transfer information through speaking or sign language.
Non-verbal communication includes facial expressions, posture,
eye contact, hand movements, and touch.
Written communication is the act of writing, typing or printing symbols like
letters and numbers to convey information.
Visual communication is delivering information, messages, and points by
way of graphical representations, or visual aids. Types of ACCORDING TO CONTEXT Communication Intrapersonal Communication means talking to oneself. It is also called as self-verbalization and self-statement.
Interpersonal Communication refers to communication between two or more
people.
Extended Communication is the use of electronic media Including
tele, audio, or phone conferencing; Video-conferencing; Skype calls; and Other technological means. ACCORDING TO Types of CONTEXT Communication Organizational Communication refers to the communication that takes place between people who are working towards common goals within an organization.
Intercultural Communication is the capacity to communicate
with people from diverse cultures. ACCORDING TO PURPOSE Types of AND STYLE Communication Formal Communication involves official communication channels like memos, emails, business letters, reports, presentations, and meetings. In addition, it needs strict adherence to a code of conduct that includes specific formats, language conventions, and professional etiquette.
Informal communication is an exchange of information, either oral
or written, that doesn't fall within the traditional structures, methods, or hierarchies of the business. Thank you GODand BLESS!
