Windows Server administrators install, configure, and maintain Windows


Server operating systems. They also manage the transition of on-premises
environments to hybrid environments that use Microsoft Azure as the cloud
component.
About this course: Audience

Candidates who attend this course typically are IT professionals who:


 Manage on-premises Windows Server environments and are preparing to transition from

About this course: Prerequisites

Before attending this course, students must have:


 Experience with managing Windows Server operating systems and Windows Server
virtualized workloads in on-premises scenarios
 Experience with implementing and managing IaaS services in Microsoft Azure
 Basic knowledge of Azure AD
 Intermediate knowledge of PowerShell scripting and PowerShell DSC
 Intermediate knowledge of core Microsoft compute, storage, networking, and virtualization
technologies
 Intermediate knowledge of Windows Server–based compute and storage high-availability
technologies
 Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft virtualization security-related technologies

Prepare for the labs

Your lab activities will be centered around a fictitious company, Contoso, Ltd. You’ll work in a
VM environment to:
 Provision the core compute and networking components
 Use Windows Admin Center in hybrid scenarios
 Deploy Storage Spaces Direct
 Implement Storage Spaces Direct on hyper-converged infrastructure
 Deploy Software-Defined Networking
 Implement Software-Defined Networking on hyper-converged infrastructure
Hands-on labs

 This course requires access to the Azure platform. Access to Azure might be provided
through one of the following options:
o An Azure pass that the Learning Partner or the ALH gives out to students

o As part of an ALH Azure solution. Your instructor will provide more information
regarding access to Azure.
 You will use a Microsoft Learning Azure Pass to access Microsoft Azure
 After you set up your subscription, check the dollar balance of your Azure Pass within
Microsoft Azure
 Be aware of how much you are consuming and do not allow Azure components to run
overnight or for extended periods
 Lab instructions are in a GitHub repository. For this class use the <your region> location.
 Each lab creates a new resource group. To minimize costs, remove the resource group at
the end of the lab.
