AUTHOR A.I.AKRAM

Agha Ibrahim Akram better known as A. I. Akram, was a


Lieutenant-General in the Pakistan Army and a historian.
He wrote books about early Muslim conquests. His most
famous book The Sword of Allah is a biography of
Muslim general, Khalid ibn al-Walid. He retired from the
Pakistan Army as Lieutenant-General in 1978. He also
served as Pakistan's Ambassador to Spain. He founded
the Institute of Regional Studies in 1982 and remained
its president till his death in 1989

EARLY LIFE

Hazrat Khalid Bin Waleed was born in Mecca in 585

A.D.Khalid's father was al-Walid ibn al-Mughira, an

arbitrator of local disputes in Mecca in the Hejaz. He

Belonged to Banu Makhzum Tribe. Khalid's paternal

uncle Hisham was known as the 'lord of Mecca' and the

date of his death was used by the Quraysh as the start

of their calendar

ACCEPTANCE OF ISLAM

On 31 May 629, 8 Hijri Hazrat Khalid Bin


Waleed along with 2 more companions
entered Madina, met Hazrat Muhammad
(PBUH) and embraced Islam. He was
forgiven by all Muslims against whom he once
fought. After embracing Islam Hazrat Khalid
Bin Waleed proved his mettle by raising his
Sword for the uplifting of the Right Faith-
ISLAM

CAMPAIGNS IN IRAQ

On Mar 633, Hazrat Khalid Bin Waleed (R.A)


received orders from Hazrat Abu Bakar (R.A)
to mov to Iraq and start his ops in the region
of Uballa b/w Euphrates and Tigris River. His
victories in Iraq incl Battle of Dhat al-Salasil
(633), Battle of Nahr al-Mar'a (633), Battle of
Ullays (633),Battle of Walaja (633),Capture
of al-Hira (633),Siege of Anbar (633),Siege
of Ayn al-Tamr (633), and Battle of Firaz
(634)

CONQUEST OF SYRIA

Khalid's transfer to Syria. In May 634 C.E. while Khalid


bin Walid was at Al Hirah, he received orders from Abu
Bakr that he should proceed with all possible haste to
Syria to take over the command of the Muslim forces
in Syria, As part of his campaign in Syria, his victories
incl Battle of Marj Rahit (634), Siege of Bosra (634),
Battle of Ajnadayn (634), Battle of Fahl (634 or 635),
Siege of Damascus (634–635), Battle of Yarmouk
(636), Siege of Emesa (637–638), Siege of Aleppo
(637) and Battle of Qinnasrin (637–638) 9
DEATH

The Sword of Allah-Hazrat Khalid Bin Walid (R.A) died on 642 in Medina
On his deathbed He said,’’Tell it to all Cowards of this World that if there had
been Death in Battlefield, Khalid would have not died on his bed’’
