the saint was preaching in Puy, Italy.
● The messenger was distracting a
woman by telling her that her son
had been murdered.
● St. Anthony silenced the messenger
and cast out the demon.

While visiting Padua, the saint stayed
in the home of Tito Borghese at
Padua.
● Tito saw an extraordinary light
coming from the room of St.
Anthony.
● Peeking through the window, Tito
saw the saint carrying a beautiful
child.
● The Lord had appeared to St.

★ 13 June 1231, St. Anthony collapsed

★ Asked to be returned to Padua

★ He wanted to spend his last


moments in the Church of Santa
Maria.
★ Too weak to travel, he stopped at
Poor Clare Monastery in Arcella, Italy.

Anointing of the Sick
★ His last words were: “I see the Lord”

★ Age: 36 y.o.

★ Buried at Sancta Maria Mater Domini

Santibañez from Nuestra Señora de Guia of
Ermita Parish and the Capuchins Fraternity
of Intramuros would come to celebrate
masses, visit the sick, and teach Christian
Doctrine to the children

History of
Class Patron
Saint
St. Alphonsus Liguori was a bishop, confessor, and
Doctor of the Church, known for his work in moral
theology and founding the Redemptorist Order. Born
in 1696 near Naples, he initially practiced law but
dedicated his life to God after a vision. He founded
the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer and
was canonized in 1839. Alphonsus is celebrated for
his simple preaching, dedication to the Eucharist, and
efforts to reform the church. His feast day is August
2nd.
