sentence to
express something that has the
possibility of happening as
expected or not as expected.

Types of Conditional Sentence
1. Type 0
This type is based on facts and using simple
present tense for both clauses.
Formula of simple present tense: S + V1

2. Type 1
This type is a sentence that says something that
might or will happen in the future. This type is
using simple present tense for the if clause and
simple future tense for the main clause.
Formula of simple present tense: S + V1
Formula of simple future tense: S + Will + V1
Types of Conditional Sentence
3. Type 2
This type is usually used to presuppose something that is
almost impossible or even impossible. This type is using simple
past tense for the if clause and past future tense for the main
clause.
Formula of simple past tense: S + V2
Formula of past future tense: S + Would + V1
4. Type 3
This type is a sentence to speculate about
something that is the opposite of what has
already happened. This type is using past perfect
tense for the if clause and future perfect tense
for the main clause.
Formula of the past perfect tense: S + Had + V3
Formula of the future perfect tense: S + Will +

5. Mixed Type
This type is a sentence that refers to the past,
to show the speaker's current condition. It
creates a formula for the mix type, namely a
combination of conditional type 2 and
conditional type 3. This type is using simple
past tense, past perfect tense, and future
perfect tense.
Formula of simple past tense: S + V2
Formula of past perfect tense: S + Had + V3
Formula of future perfect tense: S + Will +

2. Type I (Simple Present, Simple Future)


- If you invite me, I will come to your house,
- If she graduates her college, she will be
happy.

- If I had a million dollars, I would buy a big
house,
- If I won the lottery, I would travel the world.
4. Type III (Past Perfect, Future Perfect)
- If I had studied harder, I would be in
medical school now,

passed the exam.

- If you had taught me how to make brownies, I wouldn’t buy it in

the store,

- If they were good players, their them would have scored more

in the match yesterday,

- Their family would buy a house in Bandung if one of their

children had been accepted to Bandung Institute of Technology.


The Conclusion
Conditional Sentence is a sentence used to
state something that may or may not happen as
stated, expected. Conditional sentence consists of
two clauses, namely: Main Clause and If Clause.
The location of the Main Clause can be in front of
or behind the If Clause. This difference in location
is notaffect meaning. There are several types of
Conditional Sentences, namely: Type 0, Type I,
Type II, Type III, and Mixed Type.
