NATURE AND USED WITHOUT MUCH
MODIFICATION ARE CALLED NATURAL
RESOURCES.
ACTUAL RESOURCES:
• ACTUAL RESOURCES ARE THOSE RESOURCES OF WHICH QUANTITY IS
KNOWN AND WHICH ARE BEING USED AT PRESENT.

• FOR EXAMPLE: PETROLEUM IN WEST ASIA AND DARK SOILS OF THE

DECCAN PLATEAU ETC.
POTENTIAL RESOURCES:

 Potential resources are those resources which are not being used at present, and
whose total quantity is unknown.
 These resources could be used in future.

NON-RENEWABLE RESOURCES:

 Resources which have limited stock and thousands of years to be renewed

are called Non-Renewable resources.
 For example: coal and natural gas.

Conserving Resources
• If we over utilize resources then resources will be exhausted
soon.
• So to protect resources we need to utilize resources
carefully.
• Resource Conservation:- using resources carefully and giving
them time to get renewed is called resource conservation.
• Sustainable Development:- balancing of the present
generation and conserving resources for future generation is
called sustainable development.
How can resources be
conserved?
Some examples are:-
• Do not waste water.
• Switch off fan/bulb/other appliances when not
utilized.
• Do not waste paper.
• Do not cut the trees.
• Save petrol/diesel/ LPG etc.
• Do not use plastic bags.
