Who Is This?

● Alan Turing, the “Father of Modern Computing,” was a


trailblazing mathematician and logician.
● During World War II, Turing played a crucial role in
pioneering the technology that decoded Nazi
communications, using his understanding of number
systems and machine logic.
● His groundbreaking work laid the foundation for the digital
computers we use today.
Binary Number
System

● Uses only two numbers: 0 and 1


● Similar to light switches:
on (1) or off (0)
● Every digit: a bit; Eight bits: a byte
● Binary is represented using base 2
