WHAT IS WIRELESS TECHNOLOGY?

Wireless technology is a technology that allows

people to communicate or data to be
transferred from one point to another without
using cables or wires. A lot of the
communication is done with radio frequency
and infrared waves.
ADVANTAGES OF WIRELESS
TECHNOLOGY
• Convenience and Mobility - Wireless technology liberates us from
the constraints of cables, making it easier to connect and use
devices wherever we go.
• Increased Productivity -With wireless connectivity, we can work
and collaborate efficiently, accessing information and resources
without being tied to a specific location.
• Cost-Effectiveness – Wireless technology reduces the need for
expensive infrastructure like cables, resulting in cost savings and
improved scalability.
TYPES OF WIRELESS TECHNOLOGY

• Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi
enables wireless internet connectivity,
providing seamless access to information and
services, anytime and anywhere. It is a family
of wireless network protocols based on the IEEE
802.11 family of standards, which are
commonly used for local area networking of
devices and Internet access, allowing nearby
digital devices to exchange data by radio
waves.
• BLUETOOTH

Bluetooth is a short-range
wireless technology
standard that is used for
exchanging data between
fixed and mobile devices
over short distances and
building personal area
networks (PANs).
BUILDING CONNECTIONS: LAN, MAN, AND WAN

LAN – Local Area Network

A network of devices within a limited area, like an office or a
home, enabling seamless communication and resource sharing.

MAN – Metropolitan Area Network

Connects multiple LANs within a larger geographical area, providing
communication services to organizations spanning a city or region.
• WAN – Wide Area Network
Extends beyond a single geographical location, connecting
LANs and MANs across long distances, enabling global connectivity.
THE EVOLUTION OF MOBILE NETWORKS:
2G TO 5G
2G – Second Generation
Introduced
digital voice communication and text
messaging, marking the shift from analog to
digital cellular networks.
• 3G – Third Generation

Brought faster data transfer speeds, enabling

mobile internet access, video calling, and a
wide array of multimedia services.
4G – Fourth Generation
Ushered in the era of high-speed mobile
broadband, facilitating seamless streaming,
online gaming, and enhanced data
transmission.
• 5G – Fifth Generation
The next frontier of wireless connectivity,
promising lightning-fast speeds, ultra-low
latency, and revolutionizing technologies like
autonomous vehicles, smart cities, and
remote healthcare.
