About Session
• In our work life, we often encounter various problems. Be it interpersonal or technical, be
it process or people related, we continue to face problem situations. We must know the
skill of decision making and finding the right solutions. This session deals with the
techniques of decision making and offers simplified tools to arrive at problem solving.
Describe the types of problems at work
place and identify the major triggers to the
problem:
1. People not adhering to the system and process
2. People not performing their assigned duties
3. People having wrong intentions at work place
4. Strategic delay in decision making
5. Machine failure, production failure, power failure, financial failure
6. Dissatisfied customers, goods being rejected
How to identify and solve the
problem?
• Separate the person from the problem. See, if it is the person or the situation causing
problem.
• Take a holistic view of the situation and address the problem. For example, not being
suspicious but, being rationale in arriving at a judgment.
Decision making technique and how
to arrive on a 'win-win' solution.

•Decision making is simple. Follow the 4 step method:


1. Identify the problem
2. Identify the root cause
3. Arrive at possible solutions
4. Choose the best solution
Activity 1
•Treasure hunt
• Divide the class into two groups and let them design clues for the other team.
• There will be 1O clues for each team.
• Each clue will indicate the further clue in the form of riddles.
• The team which finds all the clues first, wins!
• For best results, let them play in the ground.
•You can also give different problem case studies to the groups and ask them to solve
and arrive at a decision
