LOGO DESIGN

• WHAT IS LOGO?
> A logo is a graphic representation of a business or an
organization. It is simply an image that is used to easily recognize
a particular brand, product or an esablisment. Images using in logo
design are typically very distinct, and they are often use as
symbols to represent specific brands. In a way, a logo is a unique
identity for a brand.
Family crests and flags are perhaps the first logos. These
early logos were ofen very detailed and complicated, and they
stood to represent families, and entire companies. Logos of today,
on the other hand, are ofen very simple. Many believe that simpler
logo designs are typically more memorable and make a bigger
impact. They are also easier and less expensive to have a printed

• Logos can consist of several different elements. A logo mighty
consist of one or more of the following:

• Text
• Images
• Shapes
• Lines
• Colors
• in many cases, a few of these elements may be combined. For
example, colored text can be arranged into specific shape and
placed within the other elements or sometimes a curved line can
be alligned o a rounded shape to make a well-defined figure.
It is important to keep in mind that your logo design will
not function perfectly until it becomes recognizable to others. This
will come with tiem. Once viewers are able to connect your logo
design with your company and its goals, your logo design will be
able to successfully stand alone.

• Use Colors: Color utilization is an impotant factor when designing
your lego design. Some colors have a distinct effects on viewers
compared to other colors. For example, color blue is commonly
associated with life, green is often linked with the environment
and red and yellow are linked with food.

• Use the Appropriate Font: Your first concern in choosing a font for
a project should be that it matches the message or purpose of
your design. If your are a tea company, you will probably want to
avoid harsh, chunking lettering.

• Be Simple as Possible: Your logo design can contain fancy


features, but it should be kept fairly simple to provoke to a quick
reaction.
• A logo can be imprinted ono a variety of different items. Many
companies print their logos on letterhead and business cards, for
instance. Logos are also usually visible on websites, apparel, and
product packaging.

• With modern technology, logo design can be done using software


or applications which is readily availableo in the internet. Most of
the sofware and applications available are being used
commercially to render a professionally-looking logo design. in
this lesson we are going to introduce the Inkscape software, one
of the free and open-source drawing application which is being
used by professionals to design a logo or any drawing projects.

Main Tools: This is the bar where your basic tools are located.

Tool Settings: Where you’ll adjust the settings for your main
• Rulers: Most CG artiss are familiar with rulers . A click-drag from
either ruler will let you create a guide.

• Canvas: The area that contains your page. This is also the area
where you’ll create your paths, objects, and raster art.

• Page: The area that will hold your artwork whenever you export
or print your documents. Any objects outside the page will not
print or be exported.

• Dock: This will store your palettes to adjust different setting.

• Command Bar: Contains shorcuts/buttons to many of the


items/settings within menus.
• Color Palet: One of the places to select your colors. You can use
your scraoll wheel to scroll through your color palette back and
forth. (You can also use the Fill and Stroke palette to select your
colors, located inside the Command Bar).

• Status Bar: This has gobd of information in one glance. The


Status Bar tells you the color an object’s using. You can adjust
the opacity of an object path. You can lock, hide/show, and
change layers. The Status Bar also provides useful tips. It tells
you your cursor’s coordinate. You can also adjust the zoom.
