Types
Meaning of Federalism
• Federalism is a system of government where
power is divided between centre and its
constituent units ; that is states.
Features of Federalism
• At least two levels of government.
• Written constitution.
• Independent Judiciary
• Changes in the constitution requires the consent of both the levels.
• Sources of revenue for each level is clearly specified.
• Two sets of identities (Dual citizenship) People belong to the region
as well as the country. Ex. People of USA are the citizen of USA as well
as citizen of The state they live in like New York or California etc.
( doesn’t apply to India)
Types of Federation
