SURVEY

AND
FIELD
A survey is a general view,
examination, or description of
someone or something. It is
defined
as the collection of information
from a sample of individuals
through their responses to
questions (Check & Schutt, 2012).
A survey is a method through
which a research can be
conducted by taking opinions of
different people.
Any survey is an
effective way to collect
data or opinions of a
targeted group of
people about
an issue, occurrence,
topic, or any other
happening.
The collected information
or data can be used to
evaluate certain results
and come to a
common conclusion or
result.
It is proven to be
one of the most
effective and
trustworthy
research
methods.

4. Include demographic questions such as age, sex,
education, and address but it must only be limited to what
you need in your survey.

5. Place questions in logical arrangement (general to

specific, factual to abstract, easy to difficult; you may also
categorize your questions according to features or
characteristics).

6. Do pilot testing in which you test first your questionnaire

to find out if your subjects will understand the question.

CHOOSING THE SURVEY

1.Online/ Email-Online Survey Research

It is one of the most popular survey research methods today.

The cost involved in online survey research is extremely
minimal and the responses gathered are highly accurate, but
the only drawback of this survey research method is that the
response rates are lower compared to the other mediums.

money invested in phone surveys will be higher than other mediums
and also that the time required will be higher.

3. Face-to-face Survey Research

In situations where there is a complicated problem to solve, face-to-

method is the highest, but it can be extremely expensive.
