PATTERNS AND SEQUENCE
• Patterns and sequence are
fundamental concepts in Mathematics
• They help us understand and predict
natural phenomena.
• Let’s explore their importance and
applications
WHAT IS A
PATTERN?
●A pattern is a repeated or
regular arrangement of
numbers, shapes, or objects.
●Patterns can be found in
nature, art, music, and daily life.
●Recognizing patterns helps in
problem-solving and logical
thinking.
TYPES OF PATTERNS
● Arithmetic patterns: sequences
with a constant difference between
terms.
● Geometric patterns: sequences
with a constant ratio between terms.
● Fibonacci patterns: sequences
where each term is the sum of the two
preceding ones.
WHAT IS A
SEQUENCE?
● A sequence is an ordered list
of numbers following a specific
rule.
● Each number in a sequence
is called a term.
● Sequences can be finite or
infinite.

PATTERN

2. 5, 7, 9, 11, _, _,

ARITHMETI
SEQUENCE C
● An arithmetic sequence has
a constant difference between
consecutive terms.
● Example: 2, 5, 8, 11, 14
(common difference is 3).
● Formula:
common
difference
● Common difference is the
difference between every
pair of consecutive terms in a
sequence is the same.
● Formula:
GEOMETRI
C
SEQUENCE
● A geometric sequence has a
constant ratio between
consecutive terms.
● Example: 3, 6, 12, 24, 48
(common ratio is 2)
common
ratio
• The constant factor
between consecutive terms
of a geometric sequence is
called the common ratio.

2. -1, 1, -1, _, _, ... r=?
3.a, 3a, 9a, _, _, ... r=?
