3 Working with Data


Whenever you are working with a lot of data, it can be difficult to
compare information in your workbook.
a. Freezing Panes and View Options
It easier to view content from different parts of your workbook at the
same time such as the ability to freeze panes and split your worksheet.
Freezing rows and columns
By freezing rows or columns in place, you will be able to scroll through
your content while continuing to view the frozen cells. If you want to
unfreeze rows or columns, click the Freeze Panes command, then select
Unfreeze Panes from the drop-down menu.
Splitting a worksheet
The Split command allows you to divide the worksheet into multiple
panes that scroll separately.
b. Sorting Data
It is quickly reorganize a worksheet by sorting your data. Content can be
sorted alphabetically, numerically and in many other ways.
c. Filtering Data
Filters can be used to narrow down the data in your worksheet, allowing
you to view only the information you need. To remove all filters from
your worksheet, click the Filter command on the Data tab.
3.3.4 Working With Charts
A chart is a powerful tool that allows you to visually display data in a
variety of different chart formats such as bar, column, pie, line, area,
scatter, surface or radar charts. Excel offers pie, line, bar and column
charts.
Chart layout and style
It is used to change about the way your data is displayed. It is easy to
edit a chart’s layout and style from the Design tab. Excel allows you to
add chart elements such as chart titles, legends and data labels to make
your chart easier to read. To add a chart element, click the Add Chart
Element command on the Design tab; then choose the desired element
from the drop-down menu.
