DESKTOP COMPUTER
desktop computer is a personal
computing device designed to fit on top
of a typical office desk.
It houses the physical hardware that
makes a computer run and connects to
input devices such as the monitor,
keyboard and mouse users interact with.
Desktop computers are commonly used in
the enterprise, as well as in consumer use
cases such as gaming. In the enterprise,
they are important because they are the
main means for many users to do their
jobs.
LAPTOP

laptop computer or notebook

computer, also known as a laptop or
notebook, is a small, portable
personal computer (PC). Laptops typically
have a clamshell form factor with a
flat-panel screen on the inside of the
upper lid and an alphanumeric keyboard
and pointing device on the inside of the
lower lid.
TA B L E T
tablet, or tablet computer, is a portable
device that's larger than a smartphone
but smaller than a laptop. Tablets are
known for their touchscreen interfaces,
which allow users to interact with the
device using their fingers or a stylus. Here
are some other things to know about
tablets:
SMARTPHONES

smartphone is a mobile device that

combines a traditional phone with
advanced computing capabilities. It has a
touchscreen interface and can access the
internet, run apps, and perform a variety
of tasks. And it is much smaller than
tablet.
NETBOOK

netbook is a small and inexpensive

laptop designed primarily as a
means of accessing the Internet.
Netbooks were sold from 2007 until
around 2013, when the widespread
advent of smartphones and tablets
eclipsed their popularity.
HANDHELD
C O M handheld
P U Tcomputer,
E R also called a
palmtop computer, is a term that has
variously been used to describe a small-
sized personal computer (PC) typically
built around a clamshell form factor and a
laptop-like keyboard, including:
Palmtop PCs, personal digital assistants
(PDA), ultra-mobile PCs (UMPC) or
portable gaming PCs. The brand
Handheld PC specifically is a now-
defunct class of computers introduced in
the 1990s that was marketed by Microsoft
, and is detailed below.
WEARABLE
COMPUTER
wearable computer is any small
technological device capable of storing
and processing data that can be worn on
the body. Wearable computers are
designed for accessibility and
convenience, as well as improvements to
workplaces by making information quickly
and readily available to the wearer.

KEYBOARD

computer keyboard is a peripheral input device modeled after

the typewriter keyboard. which uses an arrangement of buttons or
keys to act as mechanical levers or electronic switches. Replacing
early punched cards and paper tape technology, interaction via
teleprinter-style keyboards have been the main input method for
computers since the 1970s, supplemented by the computer mouse
since the 1980s.
SCANNER

image scanner (often abbreviated to just scanner) is a device

that optically scans images, printed text, handwriting, or an object
and converts it to a digital image. The most common type of
scanner used in offices and in the home is the flatbed scanner,
where the document is placed on a glass window for scanning. A
sheetfed scanner, which moves the page across an image
sensor using a series of rollers, may be used to scan one
document at a time or multiple, as in an
automatic document feeder. A handheld scanner is a portable
version of an image scanner that can be used on any flat surface.
Scans are usually downloaded to the computer that the scanner is
connected to, although some scanners are able to store scans on
standalone flash media (e.g., memory cards and USB drives).
