CROSS DIALING FORMULA

• S1 = [ ( L1 / X ) x { ( A - B ) / 2 } ] - (A/2)

• S2 = [ ( L2 / X ) x { ( A - B ) / 2 } ] - (A/2)

NOTE:

• All dial bar sag readings must be accounted for.


• Start with Dial “A” at the top and Dial “B” at the bottom.
• Rotate the dials 180° to position dial “A” at 6 o’clock, and Dial “B” at 12 o’clock.

NOTE:

• Positive answers = ADD shims and Negative answers = REMOVE shims.

CROSS DIALING FORMULA

• Information given: “A” = +.012” TIR, “B” = +.007” TIR, X = 6”, L1 = 11”, L2 = 23”

Example Solution:
• S1 = [ ( 11 / 6 ) x {( .012 - .007 ) / 2} ] - ( .012 / 2 )
• S1 = -.0015
• REMOVE .0015” Shim at S1

• S2 = [ ( 23 / 6 ) x {( .012 - .007 ) / 2} ] - ( .012 / 2)


• S2 = +.0035
• ADD .0035” Shim at S2
